FIFF completes list of German films

Lineup of German films to be screened at the 37th Fajr Int'l Film Festival is updated.

Lineup of German films to be screened at the 37th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival has been updated.

The new update of the list includes three more movies to be screened at the ‘Retrospective of German cinema’ section of the Iranian film festival.

The new titles are Wolfgang Fischer’s ‘Styx’, ‘Iceman’ by Felix Randau and ‘What doesn’t Kill Us’ directed by Sandra Nettelbeck.

Fischer’s film depicts how a doctor starts a boat trip wishing to fulfill a long-lived dream of hers, but she ends up desperate to help a group of devastated refugees who might die by the second.

‘Iceman’, that has been nominated for a number of awards so far, narrates the story of a clan leader seeking vengeance for the savage massacre of his folks.

And finally Nettelbeck’s ‘What doesn’t Kill Us’ shows a psychotherapist who tries to keep the balance between his personal problems and those of his patients.

Earlier this week, the festival had announced three other German movies of this section. The list read: ’25 km/h’ by Markus Goller, ‘As Green as It Gets’ by Florian Gallenberger and Marcus H. Rosenmuller’s ‘The Keeper’.

Established in 1982, the FIFF is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 37th edition of the Iranian film event will screen films in 9 categories, some of which are International Competition, Eastern Vista, Festival of Festivals, Popular Genre Films and Burn Olives which is a window to the changes in the world of Islam today.
